Abstract
Religious diversity is one of the fundamental characteristics that shape the Indonesian national identity. This should be an opportunity to enrich the life of Indonesian society. However, the existence of religions often does not reflect the deepest essence of their raison d'être. This library research method study aims to map the challenges of interreligious relations in Indonesia and the opportunities for interreligious dialogue within the Basic Human Community (BHCs). The results show that the rise of religious fundamentalism, the process of mass impoverishment through globalization, religious formalism, and the politicization of religion and the religiousization of politics are some of the challenges in interreligious relations in Indonesia. In the face of these challenges, the Basic Human Community becomes a dialogical meeting ground for interreligious engagement in the pursuit of a more humane, just, and prosperous form of coexistence. Interreligious dialogue in the Basic Human Community is not merely a forum for the exchange of ideas detached from the concrete realities of society, but truly a praxis of collective liberation.
