Abstract

This study aims to (1) understand the Belo Tekanrites in the Dungan Tana Ai Society, (2)find out the Eucharist meaning, (3) find out the eucharist meaning behind the Belo Tekanrites in the Dungan Tana Ai Society. The method used in this research is descriptivequalitative-quantitative. The object under study is the eucharist meaning behind theBelo Tekanrite in the Dungan Tana Ai community. The form of data in this study is in theform of primary and secondary data sources from interviews with traditional stakeholders,community leaders, and the Dungancommunity. The author also uses reference books related to the Belo Tekanrites. Based onthe analysis of the data collected, the result is that the Belo Tekanrite actually has aneucharist meaning as conceptualized in the teachings of the Catholic Church. Theeucharist meaning behind the Belo Tekan rite can be understood bay looking at the Eucharist as a celebration of unity, the Eucharist as a celebration of life, the Eucharist as a celebration of memory, thanksgiving and supplication. The parallelization and comparison between the elements in the Belo Tekanritesand the meaning of Catholic Eucharist will bring believers to a meeting point where there areclear parallels between the two. Since the arrival of the Catholic Church in Dungan, people'sunderstanding of Belo Tekanhas slowly changed. The church, through a number of pastoralapproaches, invites people to increase their faith by looking at the deepest meaning behindthe Belo Tekanrites. Thus, the Belo Tekanrite ushers in the faith of theDungan people tosee the value of unity, life, memory, gratitude, and supplication. Therefore, the Belo Tekanrite deserves serious attention from the entire Dungan community and the Church so that it is able to bring proper understanding to the people indeveloping their faith in the Highest Being (God).
