Abstract
Fr. Paulus Budi Kleden is the Superior General of the SVD since 2018. After obtaining his doctorate in Systematic Theology from the Albert- Ludwigs-University in Freiburg, Germany (2000), he taught theology at the Catholic Institute of Philosophy and Theology (STFK) Ledalero, Flores, Indonesia (2001-2012) and then served as a General Councilor of the SVDs in Rome (2012-2018). This article is a modified form of a paper presented at the International Symposium on “Transforming Asia—Challenges of the Christian Mission in Asia on the 20th Anniversary of ‘Ecclesia in Asia’”, organized by the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. BonaventureSeraphicum and the Pontifical Urbaniana University in collaboration with the Pontifical Missionary Union, held in Rome, 1819 December 2019. Part II will appear in the February issue.
