Abstract
Terrorism and radicalism are quite serious issues at the international and national levels. Both are often identified with Islam because radicalism and terrorism movements tend to come from fundamentalist Islamic groups. Some see that the movement has become a habitus of fundamentalist Muslims because they feel that their religious teachings are threatened or intervened. Against this problem, the writing of the work aims to answer questions such as what is the Islamic understanding of the culture or habit of terror that is radical? And why is the issue of terrorism always juxtaposed with Islam? Has terrorism become a cultural heritage so that it continues to develop like culture in society? A further review of the above issues is carried out with a literature review. The authors read various literatures related to issues surrounding fundamentalist movements with radical and terrorist characteristics. In addition, the team also looked further into the Islamic understanding of the culture of radicalism and terrorism. From the descriptions made, the writing team concluded that terrorism and radicalism are juxtaposed with Islam because these movements are more likely to come from fundamentalist Muslims. People who support fundamentalist views then influence the next generations so that radicalism and terrorism seem to be cultured in Islam today.
