Abstract
Religious conflict has recently become a great polemic in Indonesia. It is undeniable and has become a habit that the majority will oppress the minority. In Indonesia itself, this problem has become commonplace because of the lack of a good understanding of what tolerance means. Unlike the religious life in East Nusa Tenggara Province in general and in Larantuka in particular. The majority of Larantuka's population is Catholic, but there are also Muslim minorities and several other religions. Larantuka residents highly value tolerance. One of the most famous is how the involvement of Muslims in supporting the tradition of the procession of the Statue of the Virgin Mary or Semana Santa. This procession has become one of the characteristics of Larantuka town. How Larantuka Catholics maintain this tradition that has reached the age of more than 5 centuries. This research uses a qualitative approach that relies on library data sources in the form of scientific texts both printed and online which are then analyzed based on related phenomena. The results of this study want to reveal that with an attitude of tolerance between religious communities, the situation will be calm and peaceful. Here it is not seen who is the majority or minority but how as citizens support each other to achieve one society without distinguishing one from another. So Muslims also have the right to exercise their religious freedom even among minorities as prosperly. Through this engagement, the ideology of Islamic identity is not solely lived through the abrahamic religion that manifested in the Qur'an and hadith but what is done in the social context with the majority of Larantuka's population.
